Peter Groenewegen is a chemist and holds a doctorate in science studies from the University of Amsterdam. He has done research on company strategy and technology development, as well as on research and development cooperation between corporations and universities. At the time of publication, he was a coordinator of the Research Program on Science, Technology, and the Environment at the Free University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Kurt Fischer is senior research associate at the George Perkins Marsh Institute, Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts; and US coordinator of the Greening of Industry Network. His research interests concern the social meaning of "greening" and "sustainability".

Edith G. Jenkins has a doctoral in management policy at the Boston University School of Management. She holds a master's degree in urban and environmental policy from Tufts University. Her research focuses on the interface between consumers and industry and the goals of democracy and sustainable societies.

Johan Schot is a historian and hold a doctorate in technology studies from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He is involved in research and consulting on sustainable transport, constructive technology and assessment, and environmental strategies for industry. At the time of publication of The Greening of Industry, he was a European coordinator of the Greening of Industry Network.
