Science and Environment Resource CenterIn a media world saturated with misleading and often false information about the environment, it is critically important that audiences have access to the best evidence- and science-based information available. With the Science and Environment Resource Center (SERC), our goal is to inspire real and lasting solutions to our most pressing environmental challenges through reliable information. SERC is an online database featuring experts in the environmental
science and policy arena, and is accessible from our website for use by
journalists, business, civic, government, and academic organizations
for interviews, speaking engagements, and scientific and policy events.
SERC is dedicated to helping the public, policy-makers, and business and civic leaders better understand the science that underlies a host of issues affecting our environment, including energy, climate change, public health, green building, environmental justice, ecosystem services, and the decline of our oceans. SERC will also proactively educate, connect, and empower scientists to be able to communicate more effectively to increase the impact and reach of the environment in scientific discourse and the media. When it comes to urgent and high-importance political and scientific issues, SERC will facilitate connections between our experts and key gatekeepers, editors, and decisionmakers, where we believe that an intensive effort may result in real change. In doing so, it will work towards its purpose to solidify and depoliticize public awareness of scientific facts versus fiction, and accordingly to grow the ability of scientists to impact public discourse and public decisions. |
